Intro Basketball is a team sport where two teams try to score points by throwing a ball through the other team's hoop. It's played on a rectangular court with five players on each team.
Objective:
Throw the ball through the opposing team's hoop
Prevent the opposing team from throwing the ball through their hoop
Scoring:
A field goal is worth two points
A field goal made from behind the three-point line is worth three points
A free throw is worth one point
Game length:
The length of a game depends on the level of play
In the NBA, each quarter lasts 12 minutes
In high school and below, the halves are divided into eight (and sometimes, six) minute quarters
Overtime:
If the game is tied at the end of regulation, overtime periods are played until a winner is determined
Fouls:
A player who is fouled is given one, two, or three free throws
Technical fouls are given for violating the game's administrative rules
Other rules:
The ball can be controlled with a hand (or hands)
The ball can be passed, thrown, tapped, rolled, or dribbled (dont mind the voice)
