Blueberry Muffins

Intro Blueberry muffins are a popular baked good, enjoyed for their sweet flavor and fluffy texture. They are essentially small, round cakes that are often served for breakfast or as a snack. The exact origin is debated, but a prevailing theory suggests Europeans adapted their use of bilberries in muffins to wild blueberries found in North America by colonists. Common ingredients include flour, sugar, eggs, milk, fat (butter or oil), leavening agents (baking powder, soda), and of course, blueberries. Many recipes also include vanilla extract and zest or juice to enhance the flavor. Beyond the classic recipe, there are many variations, including lemon blueberry muffins, blueberry oatmeal muffins, and muffins with different streusel or crumb toppings. Blueberry muffins are a widely loved food and have even been designated the official state muffin in Minnesota. July 11th is recognized as National Blueberry Muffin Day.
