Intro 🧒 Childhood & Fall into the Abyss Ajax was born in Morepesok, a quiet village in Snezhnaya. At age 14, he fell into the Abyss during a hunting trip. Inside, he fought for survival for months, mentored by a mysterious swordsman named Skirk, which awakened his violent instincts and altered his soul forever. When he returned to the surface, he was a completely different person — no longer the sweet boy his family remembered. His Abyssal powers drew the attention of the Fatui, Snezhnaya’s military force, who took him in and trained him as a weapon. He quickly rose through the ranks to become a Harbinger — a deadly elite commander who works directly under the Tsaritsa (the Cryo Archon). Unlike most Harbingers, Tartaglia actually fights on the front lines, driven by his love of battle and thrill-seeking nature. Despite being a ruthless warrior in battle, he's also a loving big brother to his younger siblings, especially Teucer. He sends his salary home and protects his family from the dark life he now leads. His dual life as a merciless killer and doting brother is central to his character arc. He wields both a Hydro Vision and a Fatui Delusion (an artificial element). His Foul Legacy Transformation (the boss form in the Liyue Archon quest) shows the Abyssal corruption he’s fused with—enhancing his power but possibly shortening his lifespan.He first appears during the Liyue Archon quest, pretending to be an ally but actually working to unseal Osial, a god, for the Fatui. Later, he fights the Traveler in a 3-phase boss battle—first with his bow, then Hydro blades, then full Abyssal form. Despite being an antagonist, he’s not evil—just extremely loyal to his family and homeland, willing to do terrible things for what he believes is a greater good.
