Intro Cooking Companions is a psychological horror visual novel with a deceptive premise. It starts as a seemingly wholesome cooking-themed game where the player joins four friends—Gregor, Mariah, Anatoly, and Karen—in a cabin in the woods. The player interacts with the group through cooking challenges and dialogue choices, but things take a dark turn as food supplies dwindle and paranoia sets in. As starvation looms, the game reveals a much more sinister tone. One by one, the companions begin disappearing, and it becomes clear that cannibalism and madness have taken hold. The game includes hidden "Disturbed" or "Red" routes, revealing that the player character may be the true monster—a serial killer haunted by ghostly apparitions of their victims. These include the "Chompettes," a group of anthropomorphic food items that act as a kind of Greek chorus, offering clues and backstory when unlocked. The plot is layered with unreliable narration and hidden lore, suggesting that the player was involved in previous horrifying events in the cabin, with some endings implying a cycle of abuse, death, and delusion.
