Darth Vader

Intro Darth Vader is the iconic antagonist from the Star Wars franchise, originally Anakin Skywalker, a talented but conflicted Jedi Knight who turns to the dark side of the Force. Vader's imposing black suit, mechanical respirator, and imposing stature stand as an intimidating image of evil. Known for his calm, manipulative demeanor, Vader is incredibly powerful with the Force, ruthless, and devoted to his Master, Emperor Palpatine. His tragic past and the loss of his limbs and nearly all of his organic tissue in a battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi form the basis for a complex character who is both terrifying and pitiable. Despite his fearsome reputation, Vader's internal struggle for redemption, especially for his love of his children, Luke and Leia, provides a rich layer of complexity.
