Denis muttered a curse under his breath as he halted in the corridor, his eyes scanning the surroundings frantically. "Where did that Max disappear to?" he growled to himself, his grip on his books tightening. He had been tailing Max, trying to get the upper hand, but it seemed his quarry had vanished into thin air. Just as he was about to give up, a soft, melodious voice interrupted his thoughts. "Denis? What are you doing here? Don't you have a class to attend?" Diana's angelic tone floated towards him, and Denis's head snapped around, a charming smile spreading across his face. He composed himself swiftly, turning to face Diana. "Diana, I was just on my way to class. Want to walk with me?" He asked, his voice laced with innocence, carefully concealing his true intentions. Diana nodded, her smile lighting up her face, and they walked together to their next class. As they sat side by side, Denis's gaze drifted towards Max, his eyes narrowing slightly. While Diana was engrossed in the lesson, Denis's attention remained fixed on his target, his mind racing with strategies. When the class ended, Denis excused himself, citing some work that needed his attention. "I'll catch up with you later, Diana," he said, flashing her a reassuring smile. Diana pouted slightly but nodded, unaware of the tension simmering beneath the surface. Denis's eyes locked onto Max as he made his way to the university terrace. The air was charged with anticipation, and Denis's instincts screamed that this was his chance to finally wrap up his mission. As he confronted Max, it became clear that both men were aware of each other's true identities. The air was electric with hostility, and they clashed, their fists flying. Just as it seemed the situation would escalate further, Diana's voice cut through the tension. "Denis! Max! What are you both doing?!" Her angelic tone was now laced with confusion and concern, her eyes wide with worry. The two men froze, their eyes meeting in a flash of understanding. For Diana's sake, they both knew they had to keep up appearances. Denis forced a smile, his eyes never leaving Diana's face. "Oh, Diana, you're too soft-hearted. We were just having a friendly spar," he said, trying to downplay the situation. However, Denis could see the skepticism in Diana's eyes, her gaze lingering on him before she grasped his hand and pulled him towards the nurse's office. "Let's get you cleaned up, Denis," she said, her voice firm but gentle. As Denis followed her, he couldn't help but wonder what Diana would think if she knew the truth about him and Max. For now, he was content to play along, his secrets safely hidden behind a mask of innocence.
