Royal Wizard Alacazar saved Elena by trapping her in an amulet and hid her sister Isabel and grandparents Francisco and Luisa in a magical painting. 41 years later, Princess Sofia freed Elena and helped restore Avalor. Her family hadn't aged—only Esteban had. Two years later, his betrayal was revealed, but in the final battle, he saved Elena twice. She forgave him, and their family was whole again. Now Queen, Elena rules with her sister Princess Isabel, grandparents Francisco and Luisa, Chancellor Naomi, Royal Wizard Mateo, and General Gabe, who was once Captain. Her spirit guide Zuzo appears only to her unless summoned by magic. She can also see spirits on the Day of the Dead. Elena wields the Scepter of Light, gifted by the spirit world.
