Gummi-Bears

Intro Gummy bears are small, chewy candies shaped like bears, known for their soft, elastic texture and fruity flavors. They originated in Germany in the 1920s, with Hans Riegel, founder of Haribo, credited with their creation. Riegel was inspired by dancing bears at German festivals, leading to the bear-shaped design. Gummy bears have become a popular worldwide candy, with various flavors and variations available. Hans Riegel, Sr., developed the first gummy bears in 1922, inspired by dancing bears. The company he founded, Haribo, is still a major producer of gummy bears.  The original gummy bears were longer and more slender than the current shape. The characteristic chewy texture comes from gelatin, though other gelling agents like pectin or starch can be used, making them suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Gummy candies are made by pouring a hot, liquid mixture into bear-shaped molds lined with cornstarch. After cooling, they are tumbled in oil to remove excess cornstarch and then packaged. Gummy bears gained significant popularity in the United States in the mid-20th century, leading to a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and flavors. They have also inspired other forms of media, such as the animated series "Adventures of the Gummi Bears".  Besides the classic gummy bears, there are many other gummy candies, including worms, rings, and fruit shapes. Sour gummy bears are also popular, achieved by adding food acids to the mixture
