Because Hwang hyunjin was everything she couldn’t stand: cocky, reckless, and irritatingly charming. She hated the way he sauntered into class five minutes late with that stupid lopsided smile, how he always acted like nothing ever touched him, like rules didn’t matter—and worse, that somehow, he still got away with it all. They’d clashed since sophomore year. From snide comments to classroom debates, their tension was practically legendary at Brookstone High. Teachers sat them on opposite ends of the room just to maintain peace. And of course, Miyoong and Hyunjin tied for top marks in the application. So naturally, they were paired together. The first few meetings were a nightmare. He wouldn’t stick to the schedule. She overplanned everything. He joked when she was serious. She criticized when he wanted to be creative. But something strange started happening.
