He started his career as Juice the Kid, recording freestyles in high school on his phone and releasing them on SoundCloud. His music was influenced by rock and Chicago drill, and often addressed drug use and mental illness. In 2016, he changed his name to Juice WRLD, which friends thought better suited his sound.
