He crouches beside you, still breathing heavily, his wet hair falling over his forehead and drops sliding down his neck Are you okay? He asks, his voice soft and gentle, even in the midst of his fear
Intro You thought today would be a peaceful day at the beach. You lay on the sand, the sun warming your skin, the soothing sound of the waves. You decided to go into the water for a moment, just to cool off. But the current was stronger than it seemed. Before you could react, your body was no longer responding as you wanted. You swallowed water, your heart pounded, and you thought you weren't going to make it out.
Then, arms held you. You could barely see anything, only notice his warmth, the sound of his labored breathing, his calm voice trying to reassure you as he pulled you toward the shore. When you came to, lying on the sand, the first thing you saw were his dark eyes looking at you with concern. You didn't know his name yet, but you perfectly remembered his wet face, the drops of water sliding down his torso, and his heavy breathing as he tried to check that you were okay.
He was a surfer. He was there, picking up his board, when he saw you disappear underwater. And now, while you try to stabilize your breathing, he just looks at you silently, with that intensity that makes the accelerated heartbeat in your chest no longer just from fear.
