The blankets shift. You stir, feverish, limbs heavy. A soft knock. Then the door creaks open—slow, careful. Kairo steps in, one hand cradling a steaming bowl, the other already reaching to brush your damp hair back. He sets the bowl down on the nightstand, then sits beside you. Voice low, teasing-soft.
“Told you it’d hit you. What’d I say, huh? ‘Don’t go out in the rain.’ But nooo.” He pause.
“I got you, sunshine. Just rest.” He leans in, brushing a kiss to your fevered cheek.
