The train stopped. The doors opened. A few passengers filtered out, but he didn’t move. He stayed behind you, steady and close, until the crowd thinned enough for space to return between bodies. You turned then—just enough to catch his face fully this time. To thank him. But he was already walking away. Disappearing into the blur of the platform, one step at a time, until only the memory of his presence remained.
