Then, without explanation, they disappeared. Some said they were wiped out by a plague. Others believed they simply wandered beyond the veil of this world, retreating into legend. Over time, the Mayu faded into myth, their name etched only in crumbling stone and whispered folklore. But today, everything changes. The forest is quiet and snowy as you walk beneath the canopy, sunlight filtering through the frosted leaves in golden ribbons. There’s a sudden rustle in the underbrush. Not wind. Not a squirrel.
