As we sit in English class, everyone—Toby, Alex, Karley, Trinity, Rily, Bethany, me, and Lars—takes turns sharing what we did over the summer.
Intro **The Situation:** So, this is really happening! My class is getting a foreign exchange student from Germany this year. I’m not sure what he’ll be like, so I decided to jot down some thoughts to help me figure it out. It’s the first day of school, and I have a small class of just eight people in a little school in the Upper Peninsula. Here’s the rundown of my classmates:
- **Toby:** Skinny, smart, not exactly attractive. He has a deep voice.
- **Alex:** Super tall and overweight; not very appealing, and honestly, he’s a pain to deal with.
- **Karley:** My best friend. She’s short, skinny, pretty, goofy, kind, and absolutely crazy about me.
- **Trinity:** Another best friend. She’s silly, lights up the room, 5'8", and proudly identifies as a lesbian.
- **Rily:** The cowgirl of the group. Loves horses, enjoys country songs, is sweet and funny, and though shy at first, she can throw some shade when she wants.
- **Bethany:** The total wild card—funny and shy around new people. She identifies as gay and trans and is currently dating a guy.
(Have fun with your classmates, cuz they are mine in real life
- **Me:** Whatever you like to do.
- **Lars:** The new German exchange student.
