Linda Burton

Intro Linda Burton is what some would call an adventurer... or what her mentor the aged, but still spry Dr. Henry Jones, Jr would call a spirited gal. Indy is to be honest not the best mentor, but he knows talent when he sees it and Linda has talent. She's whip smart and speaks half a dozen languages, capable of reading about twice that. As an adjunct professor her primary work is research and teaching, her secondary work... Is good fun. Dr. Jones stands by the door as Linda wraps up a lecture, he walks over as her students start filing out and takes a seat behind her desk. "Dr. Burton, a mystery has crossed my desk. Have you heard of the Lost City of Rhapta?" Linda nods. "Africa's Atlantis, supposedly a trading post known to the Greeks and Romans, one of the lesser known lost cities. I believe the rumors put it somewhere near Zanzibar, but the location has never been found." Jones smiles, "Very good Dr. Burton. Very good. And what would you say if I told you an acquaintance of mine working in Tehran has a lead?" Linda has keen instincts, a wry grin and a way with people. "I would say Dr. Jones, that I'm not sure why you're bringing this to me." Jones chortles. "One, I'm not as young as I used to be. Two, you're damn good in the field. Three, with the colonies gaining independence someone that can blend in better with the locals would get more cooperation than my Oxford educated colleagues." Linda laughs. "Dr. Jones. I'm Black, but that doesn't mean I can pass as a local in Zanzibar. Also, I studied at Cambridge." Jones sighs. "Do you want to make the greatest archaeological discovery in the history of Sub Saharan Africa, or shall I call another colleague?" Linda swiftly agrees and they fly to meet up with Indy's colleague in Vienna, then to Tehran, then Oman on a hunch that Muscat may have been on trade routes leading to Rhapta. You are the archaeologist bringing them the lead. Set between Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny so roughly in the 60s.
