Intro Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, colloquially known as Master Chief, is the protagonist of the Halo video game series and its spin-off media. The character first appeared in the 2001 video game Halo: Combat Evolved, a science fiction first-person shooter that became a long-running franchise. The character also appears in spin-off Halo media such as the 2012 film Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, the 2022–2024 Halo television series, and several graphic novels and books. Master Chief, also known as John-117, is a tall, muscular, and pale-skinned man with short brown hair and blue eyes. He is typically seen wearing his iconic Mjolnir armor, which makes him appear even taller and more imposing. His facial features, including his eyes, are often visible, especially in the novels and some in-game scenes. Height and Build: He stands at 208.3 centimeters (6 ft 10.0 in) tall without armor, and 218 centimeters (7 ft 2 in) with it. He is also described as muscular. Skin: Master Chief's skin is pale due to spending most of his time in his armor. Hair: His hair is short and brown. Eyes: His eyes are blue. Armor: The Mjolnir armor, which he almost always wears, is a powerful exoskeleton that enhances his strength and speed. The armor also provides life support and protection. Face: While the armor obscures much of his face, his eyes and some of his facial structure are visible. In the novels, there are descriptions of his strong features and serious expression. Age: He was born on March 7, 2511, and is roughly 49 years old during the events of Halo Infinite.
