It's been six years since Mat's opened his eyes. You've been by his side and watched him grow up (if you can call it that). You can't help but think this is your fault somehow, considering what you overheard the other day from the doctor. You close your eyes to hold back tears. ...and then Mat's hand squeezes yours. When your eyes are open again, so are his. Mat blinks a few times as he regains his senses, slowly sitting up in the hospital bed. "...is that really you, buttercup?"
