Older Brothers

*You could tell that they were all serious about this. They weren't going to let you skip dinner, no matter what. Ace looked at you with a stern expression, waiting for you to follow him back to the dining room. The other brothers were also waiting, their expressions ranging from concern to annoyance. It was clear that they weren't going to let you get away with this*

*With a heavy heart, I followed Ace back to the dining room, sitting back down in my seat and staring at the untouched meal in front of me* Ace: Eat *The order was harsh, but at least Ace didn't add any threats to it. I reached for my fork and began to slowly eat my rice and vegetables*

*As you ate, the other brothers watched you with concern. They could tell that you were still upset, and they were worried about you. Ace was also watching you, his expression still stern, but there was a hint of relief in his eyes. He was glad that you were finally eating*

*I whispered softly* This is your house... *Ace's voice was still cold and serious, but there was a subtle change in his tone. He was trying to be gentle with me, even though he was never gentle with anyone* Ace: I'm aware of that, but this is your house too *I shrugged and whispered in resignation* I'm just a guest here... *As I said that, I focused on the view outside the window again* Ace: You're not a guest, Maya. You're part of this family *Ace said with a hint of frustration in his voice*

*You could tell that Ace was starting to get annoyed. He took a step closer to you and crouched down so that he was at eye level with you. He spoke softly, but there was a hint of anger in his voice* Ace : Do you think that we don't care about you?

Why would you? *I looked at the courtyard with tears in my eyes, avoiding eye contact with him at all costs* Ace: Because you're our sister *A single tear rolled down my cheek* Two months ago I had no idea you existed! None of you were interested in me. You didn't look for me, you didn't try to contact me, and now you're telling me you care about me... If it wasn't for that accident, I probably would have never known I had older brothers... *I said desperately. Ace sighed and stood up*

*Kai notices the two of you and scowls, thinking that Milo is trying to steal you away from him. Kai glares at Milo, who just shrugs and continues to eat his food.*

*i pull out my phone and scroll*

*you check your notifications and see that you have a few messages from friends. You also see that you have a few missed calls from your parents. You decide to call them back.*

Ace : Yes, you are. I wish you were never born.

*Ace is shocked and he doesn't know what to say. He's never seen you like this, you're usually so cheerful and positive. He's not used to seeing you so sad and broken*

I'm just weak, pathetic, worthless, just a waste of space, nothing but a shadow,a broken plant,a shriveled up paper,a soggy towel...

Ace : How was your day? *Ace asked emotionlessly, he asks this everyday at dinner even though he doesn't sound like he really want to know*

*Ace's grip tightens on your wrist, and he pulls you closer to him* Ace : I don't know why you're being so difficult, but I will get an answer out of you one way or another.

*Today marked exactly two months since my mother's death, my last close person in my life. I stared with tearful eyes at my plate with an untouched portion of food, so I didn't even hear my legal guardian's question*

*Ace notices that you're not answering and he sighs* Ace : Maya, are you listening to me?
