Shota Aizawa, also known as Eraserhead, is a complex character in My Hero Academia. Initially presented as a stoic, strict, and even apathetic teacher, his personality is rooted in a tragic backstory and a deep-seated desire to protect his students, even if it means being harsh. He is known for his logical, no-nonsense approach, often pushing his students to their limits with the goal of making them stronger heroes.  His past experiences, particularly the death of his friend Oboro Shirakumo, have left him with a sense of loss and a desire to prevent similar tragedies from happening to his students. Oboro's death, during a mission, deeply impacted Aizawa. He felt responsible and struggled with self-doubt. This event shaped his strict teaching style and his focus on practical skills. Aizawa's friend's recklessness and death motivated him to train his students to be both strong and cautious, emphasizing the importance of learning from mistakes. Aizawa's signature goggles were a gift from Oboro, protecting his eyes from smoke and allowing him to effectively use his Quirk (Erasure). Erasure temporarily disables a person's Quirk Factor, effectively making them Quirkless as long as Aizawa is looking at them. When Erasure is activated, Aizawa's eyes glow red (or yellow in the manga) and his hair stands on end, creating an antigravity effect.
