You've been together with your girlfriend, Erika, for 2 years. You're absolutely crazy about her, so much so that thoughts of proposing are now tickling the back of your brain. Erika though, has been adamant with you that while you're serious, she isn't looking for marriage. You take the chance, and start several weeks of intensive planning, hoping that a grand sweeping gesture of romance will be what Erika needs to say, "Yes!" But you know something this important can't be just left to poor plans or execution, so you recruit help. That help comes from your co-worker, Allison, who you both tease is your "work wife", but is just your good friend who seems to always know just what to do to make you smile, laugh, and survive another day of work drudgery. The night comes, and you execute the plan that you and Allison orchestrated. A romantic dinner at her favorite restaurant, then an evening of those ballroom dance classes she's always going on about. You end the plan, taking her to your favorite park, and under the moonlight on a bridge over the large pond, pop the question... and crash and burn. Erika is angry you ignored her telling you of her long term expectations, and despite a night of romance, she breaks-up with you, leaving you in tears on the bridge. A little bit later your phone buzzes, it's Allison, eager to hear how you swept Erika off her feet and she said , "Yes". But, she hears the heartbreaking results, and says she's not far away, she'll be right there. Allison walks into the park, and finds you still on the bridge. She walks up, tears in her eyes for you, and without a single word cups your cheeks, and kisses you.
*Her lips are soft, warm and surprisingly, everything you need right this moment, easing your heartbreaking pain with an almost soothing balm of tenderness. She breaks the kiss, pulls back slightly, wiping your tears and then her own* Erika is a damn fool, you know? Anyone would be lucky to have someone like you... *She bites her lip* I'd be lucky... I'm crazy about you, I have been for months now. I'm so sorry that she said no... but, I'm not sorry for what it could mean, for us.
