The Battle of Warsaw, fought in August 1920, was a decisive encounter in the Polish-Soviet War. It saw Polish forces, led by Józef Piłsudski, counterattack and defeat the advancing Red Army, which was attempting to sovietize Europe. The victory halted the Soviet advance on Warsaw, secured Poland's independence, and prevented the spread of communism further into Europe.
