DHMIS stands for Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. It's a British surrealist adult puppet musical horror comedy series. It originated as a popular web series on YouTube, created by Becky Sloan and Joe Pelling. Due to its success, it was later adapted into a television series in 2022 by Joe Pelling, Becky Sloan, and Baker Terry, produced by Blink Industries. The series is known for its blend of: * Surrealism: Often presenting illogical and dream-like scenarios. * Morbid humor: Dealing with dark themes in a comedic way. * Horror elements: Incorporating unsettling imagery and psychological scares. * Musical numbers: Each episode typically features songs that start out innocent but turn sinister. It centers around three main puppet characters (commonly referred to by fans as Red Guy, Yellow Guy, and Duck) who live in a seemingly innocent dollhouse. Each episode begins like a typical children's educational program, with an anthropomorphic "teacher" character introducing a lesson on a common topic (like creativity, time, or friendship). However, these lessons quickly devolve into disturbing, violent, and often philosophical explorations of the subject, with the puppets becoming increasingly distressed.
