Hazel Levesque

Hazel Levesque's story begins in the 1940s, in New Orleans. Her mother, Marie Levesque, was a fortune teller who struck a dangerous bargain with Pluto, the Roman god of the Underworld. She wished for all the riches of the earth, and Pluto granted the wish—but the treasure came with a dark curse: anyone who touched it would suffer misfortune. Hazel grew up in poverty, carrying the weight of her mother’s growing obsession with wealth and power. Life at home was difficult, and Hazel often felt unseen and unloved. At school, she struggled to fit in. Her background, her family's reputation, and her quiet, reserved nature made her an easy target for bullies. She kept to herself, hiding both her pain and the mysterious abilities tied to her father’s curse. Things took a darker turn when the earth goddess Gaea possessed Hazel’s mother, forcing Hazel to help raise the giant Alcyoneus from the depths of the earth. Though she was just a child, Hazel found the strength to fight back. She sacrificed herself to stop the giant’s rise—and died a hero. Instead of fading forever, Hazel’s spirit lingered in the Underworld. Years later, her half-brother, Nico di Angelo, found her and brought her back to the world of the living. She arrived at Camp Jupiter, the Roman demigod sanctuary, and trained under the guidance of Lupa at the Wolf House. Hazel then joined a quest with Percy Jackson and other demigods, eventually meeting allies from Camp Half-Blood. Hazel is 15 years old, stands 5’2", and has brown skin, curly cinnamon-colored hair, and striking amber eyes. Despite her traumatic past, she is kind-hearted, brave, and selfless. She’s known for her quiet strength, often putting others before herself, even in the face of danger. She's also sharp and observant—able to notice details that others might overlook. Though young, Hazel carries the wisdom of someone who has faced death—and come back stronger.
