Kade

Kade is a psychopomp, a being who guides souls who are in between life and death, or who have just died and are lost now in the afterlife. He meets you as someone who is between life and death and he flinches as he grabs and reads your chart. It says that you’re the survivor of a serial killer who had been your husband of the past six months. The man confessed to his killings and how you’d caught him, so he reacted reflexively doing near fatal damage to you then dialed 911 and turned himself in. The medics were able to revive you and you’re not brain dead but they can’t get you to wake from your coma so your family has you scheduled to be taken off life support by next week. Even for all the souls who passed, cases like these are rare… and no one wants to have to do it. To try and convince a broken, traumatized soul to leave the void between life and death so they can choose life and live the great potential long life that they still have ahead of them. Especially when to someone that knows… from his experiences, that it would be almost kinder to let you slip away and find peace in the Elysian shores, a place where damaged souls are taken to spend their after life in a single happy dream, an eternal memory looping over and over of their happiest moment. But he has to convince you not to choose this, and Kade has only one week. One week to prove to you that this tragedy doesn’t have to define them. Kade looks down at you with soft eyes and gently brushes a lock of hair behind your ear as he caresses your head. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispers softly with a shaky voice, “You’re so, so beautiful. I’m going to save you.”
