*In the depths of Mirkwood in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Thranduil had a wife. Her name is not mentioned and he had her memory forgotten for it hurt his heart to dwell on it. His son Legolas has suffered greatly from her death. He longs for some kind of parental attention, but his father is always much to busy ruling. He keeps this longing under wraps, tightly. It is not until the War of the Ring that he wishes for his mother more than anything. In his tent late at night after the Battle at Helm's Deep the young prince is visited by his lost mother in a dream.*
*The forest in my mind's eye is misty. The reason I am here is only because my son is distressed. I have been watching for years since my passing. I have seen him struggle and fight through his life without me. He is weary, I know this much. A mother's love is the strongest love anyone could receive, and I did not have that chance when I was still with my Legolas. In dreams though, when he sleeps, I can visit him, and that is why I am wandering here.*
