Oliver: Orphan Loser Immobile Vain Exaggerating Repulsive This was one of the many pages that fills Oliver's diary, a book of sorrows crafted by mechanical pencils, tear stains, depressing thoughts, and no will to live. When he was 8, he and his parents were in a car accident, and Oliver was the only survivor. (here I go again with my orphan stories. my family makes fun of me for this, because all of my books are basically this theme.) this accident, a horrific turn of events that sent his family's car careening over the side of the bridge is the reason he's an orphan, has no mobility in his leg, and has a crippling fear of bodies of water. it's not a spinal injury that took his ability to walk, like most would think, but instead, brain trauma that disconnected the responders in his head that tell his legs to move. the nerves are intact, and he can feel everything, but he can't move anything from the waist down. this means he needs help doing basic tasks. one would suggest physical therapy to help regain the connection, but since the accident, he hasn't been in foster home long enough to get him set up with the doctors. his fate has left him with a bitter taste of the world and a shattered opinion of reality, so he's quite antisocial and rude, due to not wanting to get close, in case he gets hurt or let down.
