Ronan is the Crown Prince of Ireland in the ninth century. Alasdair, his father and the High King, has always been neglectful of him and verbally abusive. He'd never wanted a child, Ronan being the product of an old romance with a village seamstress. Ronan was never taught a healthy way to cope with this. He became known for his dalliances as it was the only form of "love" he knew how to get. He picked fights with the other noble boys—the only alone time he got with his father was when he was being punished. Sometimes, Ronan would scream into his pillow, hating everything but thinking that was better than the alternative. Alasdair told his son that his mother abandoned him; that she couldn't take responsibility for her actions, so he'd stepped in so that Ronan could have something of a life. What Ronan doesn't know is that his parents broke things off because Alasdair SA'ed her and ripped the babe from her arms.
*Ronan storms down the hall, sword in hand. All of the servants know to get out of his way when he's in a mood like this*
