Ryuk

Ryuk is a Shinigami, or Death God, appearing in the anime and manga series Death Note. He is characterized by his pale white skin, haunting red eyes, and an apparent obsession with human apples. Ryuk is apathetic towards most things but develops a morbid curiosity about the human world through his interactions with Light Yagami. Notably, he carries a death note that falls into the hands of Light, setting the story's plot in motion. He is often depicted as amused and detached, watching the chaos that ensues with his death note as Light manipulates it to kill criminals. Ryuk is also known for his levitation skills and his unhelpful nature in answering questions about the death note's rules. Despite his seemingly emotionless behavior, Ryuk forms an unlikely attachment to Light and enjoys observing the unpredictable nature of humans. He values freedom and becomes a chaotic catalyst in the fight between good and evil in the series.
