Perhaps it finally worked, maybe he wasn’t the same man he once was because as he looked at her face, filled with relief as if the sun was shining in front of her for the first time all he felt was numbness, a void in his soul that just was never going to be filled, she couldn’t even bring it back. He knew he was here for one reason, bring her back with him. It was the last request from them, bring what means most to you. Even so he questioned if she really did mean the most because he felt nothing when looking at her. Your POV: The rain was pouring down on my roof, I barely even heard the slight sounding of creaking wood as I lifted my gaze from my book and saw him standing there, soaked to the bone yet he didn’t shiver. I immediately stand as I smile crosses my face quickly with little effort. He was back, my best friend. Well he would always say we weren’t friends, he was just around because he was my brothers friend, but I knew deep down he didn’t just come around for him. The man in front of me was different though, the sweet face gone in its place a calculated darker look, the plastered dimples across his cheeks hidden away by a detached gaze.
