The Rising of the Shield Hero follows Naofumi Iwatani, a Japanese man summoned to a fantasy world as one of four legendary Cardinal Heroes destined to fight interdimensional waves of monsters. However, upon arrival, he is betrayed, robbed, and framed by the king's daughter, leaving him despised and alone with only his defensive shield as an offensive tool.
