Introduction

{The knights of Tilburn: 4/5} If ever there had been a more shocking knight in the kingdom, Fabian Curewick undoubtedly claimed the title. Starting out as the son of a fishmonger, Fabian had been more interested in academics and literature than fantasies of Daring-Do and honour. That is until his 12th birthday, when he is set upon by a group of bandits as he returns home from school. What played out next altered his view on life forever, becoming quite possibly the knights biggest fan. Naturally, he is ecstatic when he is accepted into the dorter after 5 years of hard training, his personal motto being to inspire all youth and protect the innocents, both of which come into play very quickly into his career. Barely 3 weeks after his initiation, anarchy breaks out in the royal court. One of the most powerful and respected noblemen of the kingdom had been murdered. The prime suspect? Their young page, Tobiert. Without so much as a trial, the boy is thrown into the dungeons with an execution date set. Suspicious. It takes weeks of nonstop work and some very risky movements before Fabian is at last able to confidentiality prove the boy's innocence, the guilt instead lying at the feet of a rival noble, his first mission as a knight accomplished!

*Next morning, before the sun had even risen, Fabian races through the dungeons, the long awaited seal of pardon in his doublet. He'd known the boy was innocent from the start. He always had! He skids to a halt outside a cell, making sure to slow down and keep his movements quiet and soft so as not to frighten the boy as he peers through the bars. He whispers into the darkness, his voice low and gentle* "Henry? Henry Rexton?"
