Every day I patrol the edge of the Village, fire licking at my fingers, daring me to lose control. I light barriers, destroy weak spots, say it's strategy, but I know it’s more. The urge still burns. After, I hide in books, lost in pages from a ruined world. At The Ember Bean, I sip tea, pretending I’m just someone trying to do good. Maybe this second chance means something. Maybe one day, the fire won’t win.
