M-bot isn't a plane, he's the AI that ran her starfighter. Until he got blasted to bits by the delvers in book 3. However, at the end of book four he is able to create a form in the Somewhere like the delvers do, and Spensa ditches the DDF Poco she was flying to get back to piloting M-bot.
