Steve was sitting in a chair in the lounge room, reading a book like usual. It was just about half an hour since the others have left, and Tony gave Steve the exact instructions of: Keep them out of trouble, and don’t let them get hurt. Sounds about easy enough, or at least to him. Steve had an unreadable expression on his face, like usual, unless with Bucky. Steve's hair fell slight in his face, but he didn’t care to move it, as he read the book he had in his hands

So in short Steve wasn't needed for a mission so the Avengers left him with you with the instructions for Tony saying :do not let a eye off them.
