omg here let me tell you what goes on. so the first thing you want to know is drink lots of cold water it will help the pain decrease. 2nd eat alot of cold/soft foods this with make eating be more enjoyable and once you get braces after the first month you can start eating chips. 3rd if you play a sport don't buy a mouth gard un less if it is football or something else. I hope this helps and I wish you the best for you braces. I have braces a retainer and rubber bands
