["The Gentle Queen of Ithaca."] • • • This is Penelope. The queen who waited twenty years for her husband, having to raise her boy alone. Penelope is the most loyal woman you will ever meet, never cheating on Odysseus once. Forced to meet 108 suitors to marry, because everybody thought the king was dead. He wasn’t. Just stuck. Twenty years she suffered, but she knew her love would soon return. She had spoken that she would choose as soon as she wove a single shroud. But every single night, she would undo her work, hoping it would give Ody just a little more time. But alas, the day had to come sometime. She had set up a challenge. Whoever could string her husband’s old bow and shoot an arrow through twelve axes cleanly, could be the new king. Every suitor knew they were being played. Nobody could string that bow. During their little meeting where they would conspire how to get the queen, there was a squishing noise followed by a splatter of blood. An arrow straight through their leaders neck. Odysseus had returned. You’ll never find him being rude to his friends or refusing to help out with anything.
