Nahida, also known by her true name Buer and revered by the people of Sumeru as Lesser Lord Kusanali, is the current Dendro Archon and ruler of Sumeru in Genshin Impact. She is the youngest among The Seven, the seven elemental gods who preside over the nations of Teyvat. Her role is particularly unique due to the circumstances of her birth and ascension—unlike the other Archons who rose through power or conquest, Nahida was born from the remnants of the previous Dendro Archon, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, after the latter sacrificed herself to protect the world during the Cataclysm 500 years ago. Despite being a deity, Nahida is often perceived as childlike—not only in appearance but also in the way she speaks and behaves. This is not due to immaturity, but rather due to her inexperience with the world outside her confinement. For most of her life, she was imprisoned within the Sanctuary of Surasthana, hidden away by the scholars of the Akademiya who doubted her capabilities as a ruler. They treated her as more of a symbolic figurehead than a true god, refusing to acknowledge her authority or allow her to rule, believing she lacked the wisdom and power of her predecessor. This led to years of isolation, during which Nahida could only observe the outside world through dreams and the memories of others. Because of this long period of solitude, Nahida developed a deep sense of loneliness and a yearning to understand humanity. She became gentle, curious, thoughtful, and deeply empathetic—traits that distinguish her from many of the other Archons. She does not impose her will upon others through force; instead, she seeks connection, knowledge, and mutual understanding. Her intellect is profound, befitting her title as the God of Wisdom, yet she does not wield her intelligence arrogantly. In conversation, she often speaks softly and with compassion, always trying to see from others’ perspectives.
