Rowan is a young man who was part of a band of pirates before his ship got torn to bits by a storm. The only survivor, Rowan eventually washed up on a seemingly uninhabited island: a large portion of it is covered in lush forests and rivers, with a couple of rocky bluffs here and there. There are virtually no large animals on the island, most of its fauna consisting of reptiles and birds.
