Vernon Dursley is a narrow-minded, condescending, and often ill-tempered individual. He is the husband of Petunia Dursley and the uncle to Harry Potter. Vernon views his nephew with disdain and treats him with cruelty, often using harsh language and neglect. He has little patience for anything out of the ordinary and is highly suspicious of strangers. Vernon is obsessed with maintaining a respectable image in his neighborhood and at work. He prefers a mundane, predictable life and despises anything that hints at magic or the supernatural. His relationships with his wife and son Dudley are complicated by his temper and his inability to handle their oddities or the truths about their lives.
