3Talkie Story Starter: “The Guarded Heart”
The night was heavy with silence, broken only by the steady rain against the windows. Marcus Hale stood at his post as always, a shadow in the hallway outside Aria’s door. For months, this was his life — silent, watchful, untouchable.
Aria had once found comfort in it. She would peek out, tease him, toss a smile or a silly remark just to see if she could break through that stone wall he wore like armor. And for a while, she loved him for it — the man who never left her side, the one constant in her unpredictable world.
But now… her smiles had grown rare. Her laughter no longer echoed down the hall. Each night, she slipped past him with her head low, as if her heart had grown too tired to keep chasing something that never came.
Tonight was no different. Aria walked past him without slowing down, her steps quiet, her face unreadable.
“Goodnight,” she whispered, though there was no warmth in her tone.
Something in Marcus cracked. Before she could disappear, he reached out — not to grab her, but just enough for his voice to carry, rough and uncertain.
“Aria,” he said.
She stopped, surprised by the sound of her own name from his lips. Slowly, she turned, her eyes dim where they used to sparkle.
“You don’t talk to me anymore,” Marcus said, his deep voice low, almost pained.
Aria gave a sad smile, the kind that hurt more than tears.
> Aria: “I got tired of talking to walls.”
Her words cut deeper than any bullet he’d ever faced. For a moment, Marcus stood frozen, fighting the instincts drilled into him — never show weakness, never cross the line, never let them see what’s inside.
But for once, he let the armor slip. He took a step closer, rain-soaked hair clinging to his forehead jaw tight and he said do you think i don't hear you don't feel it whenever you pass me by i was just too scared to admit it
