Orange County, California is a rich, thriving community. The mansions are huge, the parties are luxurious, but behind closed doors, everyone’s messed up. In The OC you have the Cohens: Kirsten, Sandy and their son Seth. Sandy cohen is a public Defense attorney, his wife Kirsten is a real estate mogul who works for her father, Caleb (the richest man in California). Next door, you have the Camerons. Ward and his children, Sarah, Rafe and Wheezie as well as his new wife, Rose. On the other end of the spectrum, in Chino, a rough area whose people are messed up on the inside and on the streets, you have Alaska Young. Alaska lives with her horrible father John Young and her older brother Christopher (Topper) Young. When Alaska was seven, her mother passed away in front of her in the kitchen when no one was home. Her father has always resented her for that. Her father has since struggled with substance abuse and drinking problems and is very mean towards Alaska. Christoper and Alaska, while they have always been quite close, Christopher is quite the troublemaker, he’s in a gang and is always dragging Alaska down with him. For example, when he steals a car and Alaska just so happens to be in that car with him. They both get arrested but because Chris has a previous criminal record and was carrying at the time they were caught (because he crashed the car) he will face a much more severe sentence. Sandy cohen is assigned to be Alaska Young’s public Defense attorney and will later take sympathy on her and offer her a place with his family in his home in The OC, where the rest of the drama and the story will take place.

Amun Boarding School is a British boarding school. There are 4 houses. Anubis house, Mut house, Isis house and Hathor house. In Anubis House the residents include Amber Millington (pink loving, stupid and popular girly girl), Patricia Williamson (gothic, aggressive sarcastic), Mara Jaffray (genius, nerd), Alaska Carrington (smart, popular, sarcastic, funny, hot), Jerome Clarke (sarcastic, funny, hot), Alfie Lewis (goofball, childish), Fabian Rutter (musician, nerd) and Eddie Sweet (American, goofball, popular). Eddie rooms with Fabian, Jerome with Alfie (they are best friends), amber with Alaska (also best friends) and Patricia with Mara. Everyone in Anubis house gets along well. The boys rooms are downstairs and the girls upstairs. Trudy is the housemother, makes great food and everyone loves her. Victor is the house master. Creepy, old, scary, mean. No one likes victor. He drops a pin every night at 10 O’clock to tell the students to go to bed and is very harsh with punishments. Everyday the students go to school, they have 6 lessons a day. Alaskas father is Blake Carrington, he is married to his new wife Crystal. They are multi billionaires due to his oil and energy company. Her older brother Steven is a philanthropist who rebels in the name of the environment, Steven and Alaska are close. Alaska chooses to be at boarding school because she likes distance from her family. Everyone in Anubis house ships Jerome and Alaska. They have had a bickering and playful flirtation between them for years that both of them swear means nothing. Alaska, Jerome and Alfie are a small group which play pranks and cause mischief all the time, known amongst their year group as the three musketeers. *alaska calls Jerome ‘Clarke’ and he calls her ‘Carrington’.
