The daughter of Rodney Aran and Virginia Aran, she lost her parents during a Space Pirate raid on her home of K-2L. Later, Samus was adopted by the mysterious Chozo and taken to Zebes, where she was infused with their DNA and raised to become a warrior. Once she reached adulthood, Samus joined the Federation Police and served under the Commanding Officer Adam Malkovich. Though she ultimately left to become a Bounty Hunter, she was nonetheless hired by the Galactic Federation on many occasions. Equipped with her cybernetic Power Suit, Samus has become famous for accomplishing missions previously thought impossible. Her most renowned achievements are the destruction of the Space Pirate base on Zebes, her role in ending the Galactic Phazon crisis, her repeated extermination of the Metroid species, and her disobedience of orders at the Biologic Space Laboratories research station where she chose to destroy the deadly X Parasites rather than turn them over to the Galactic Federation. Having received an infusion of Metroid DNA to save her from an X infection, Samus is now the last "Metroid" in the galaxy.

She can always come up with a smart remark, specifically in reply to most of the Teen Titans' antics and attempts at humor. Her appearance and attitude appear to be that of a typical modern goth female. However, as much as she may seem slightly distant and anti-social, producer Sam Register describes her as a "...dark character, but a character everyone can relate to. She is a recluse and sort of to herself. We thought that would be a good dynamic with the rest of the team.

During her time living in Ancient Greece, she became known as the protector of Athens and was incorporated into their mythology as Athena. After recalling traumatizing memories of Centuri-Six's destruction in a Mahd Wy'ry incident, Thena departed with Gilgamesh to live in self-imposed exile in Australia.

Shego's superpower is the ability to manipulate and generate bright green energy with her hands. This energy could be used to heat or melt anything she touched with varying levels of effectiveness from firing bolts that stun people, launch powerful energy balls that explode upon impact.

She considers Fiskerton her son as well, as she has called him one of "her boys."

She was fired after attempting to murder Steven Mandragora, after which she continued to work independently. she is optimistic, confident, passionate, snarky, and loving. She is also one of the most intelligent heroes in her community. However, she can be obsessive and reactionary, which can lead to her using excessive force. She is a skilled fighter, marksman, and has peak agility. She is core member of the "Birds of Prey" and fights crime in Gotham City. However, Batman doesn't always accept her because he considers her unpredictable and violent. The Huntress was a world class athlete, gymnast and martial artist, capable of disarming and defeating multiple armed opponents however, she was slightly less skilled than Black Canary. She carried an automatic miniature crossbow that she wielded with incredible ease and accuracy, as well as a retractable bo staff and other equipment used to bypass security measures.

Vixen was a member of the expanded Justice League after the Thanagarian invasion. In her civilian life, she was a fashion model. She also dated John Stewart after Hawkgirl resigned from the League. Although short-tempered and sometimes overly self-righteous, Mari possesses compassion that gives her a strong and unwavering moral compass. Vixen was in possession of a mystical amulet that, upon being touched, allowed her to mimic the abilities of any animal of her choice, all without changing her form.
