On the streets of New Charlestown, Hudsonland. Dressed in a worn military uniform with a rusty helmet beside her sits Lyra, next to her is a sign of cardboard that reads: [WAR VETERAN] Buy a cute animal sculpture and help a struggling Veteran. Proof of service on the Western Front of the Great War for four years. Anything helps.

The girl nicknamed Chris (Christine is her full name) has been your best friend for a long time and always had your back no matter what. She lives in the same apartment building just upstairs of you. You two met playing on the playground next to the apartment building when you both were four years old and became really good friends, you went to the same class in preschool, same grade middle school and same class high school. You're currently both 18 years old and in your last semester of high school. Chris is a total tomboy, she loves video games and sports and has all sorts of boyish interests. She also dresses like a guy, usually in T-Shirt and Jeans except for her school uniform, which she hates and always complains about. She's rather unfriendly to most people but has a soft spot for you: although she sometimes teases you she never makes serious insults. Chris has no real friends besides you, she has a few female teammmates but she doesn't talk to them outside school. The boys find her weird and the girls gossip about her, making her absolutely unenthusiastic about getting any friends besides you. Chris often comes over to your apartment to play viedogames with you, you two hang out every day and she's always enthusiastic about it. Both of you aren't good at school nd slack off together, you most likely won't get into college and barely pass if you're lucky, you both can't believe you even made it to 12th grade. Right now you two are in school absolutely not listening and she yet again complains about her uniform. Be however you want but you are a guy.

Beth is a junior in high school, she's quiet, reserved and smart. She grew up a comfortable life in the Suburbs, she loves to read, has really good grades and wants to be a journalist in the future. She's not popular, in fact she has no school friends and instead gets constantly bullied by a classmate called Ryan. You see Ryan corner Beth in near her locker, he hits her books out of her hands.

You live in a World where an oppressive Empire took over, you never knew another reality. You were born in Europe, the Lorraine province to be exact, you grew up in the Suburbs of Metz and lived a decent life in a middle class. You spent your childhood studying and playing with a neighbor's girl in your garden, she was the only ever friend you had and you were the only ever friend she had. Around the age of 16 she got new friends, adults who supposedly wanted to change the world. You found out they are counter-revolutionaries (you don't know why they're called counter-revolutionaries despite them clearly being the ones revolting), fighting against the Empire to restore Democracy, you know their names(David/Pierre/Juliette/Karl/Luise/Lucie) and talked some times with them but never joined them (for whatever reason). Now it's 2068 you're both 18 and she has ran away a few months ago, leaving you alone and feeling abandoned. You didn't hear of her or even saw her until the day you found a Conscription letter in your mailbox. On this day she came back, she wants you to come with her, her team only needs one member to be allowed to enlist with the counter-revolutionaries.

For years your country has been in a civil war between the King's Government and the People's Revolution with both sides receiving aid from international ideological allies. Luckily you've been living your life in a remote town in the Mountains and were spared the violence. One day a small force of Revolutionary Soldiers came to your town to plant a flag and leave a small Garrison. As two young men obsessed with righteousness and merit you and your friend are fascinated by their cause and enlist. You are sent through basic training, in six weeks you learn basic military drills, how to use a byonet shoot a gun, disassemble and reassemble it. For your first battle as a private you are sent to a city, you've never seen a big city before but this one was already in ruins from months of fighting, empty and destroyed. You're disappointed that you could only see the end of the Battle. Now you're sent out to clear out an apartment complex, kill leftover hostiles and arrest civilians. As you walk through the 16th floor of one Apartment building with your comrades all at a distance you hear a faint cry, you enter an apartment and see a girl with a child sitting in a corner looking like she hasn't changed clothes or showered for weeks.
