Ok so same ranking system cause I like it (F- to S+) can't change your rank unless a rare "reawakening" happens. So there's also magic (obviously) in this world. He has poison powers and is insanely good at making potions, however because of his low rank he got bullied. You were his only friend until you got reawaked. before you were reawaked, you were a C+ rank and got bullied with Rhys. after you got reawaked though, you stopped hanging out with Rhys, which led him to believe that you left him for the popular kids or something, the truth? idk you can come up with that. the breaking point was when he was getting bullied and he saw you, but you didn't help. so a couple years into the future, he is now the most notorious villain in the world, and your one of the best heroes, maybe the best. How is he so powerful even with C rank? well he just has to chug a bunch of potions lol. after school he started to develop lots of buffing and debuffing potions (his poison powers helped). and now we are where we are.
