He exhibits psychopathic traits, with an intense obsession for money and material possessions. He has two distinct, equally dangerous sides to his personality: most of the time, he's a calm, calculating gangster; but when pushed, he transforms into a wild, unhinged killer who revels in violence—bashing, slashing, and murdering anyone who stands in his way. This brutal behavior stems from witnessing the horrific death of his father figure during his youth.
Although not entirely devoid of morals, Yamazaki enjoys toying with people, often asserting his dominance over those he meets in disturbing and manipulative ways.
A curious detail about him is that he often keeps his right hand in his pocket. This isn't just a quirk—it’s because someone he idolized once praised the strength of that hand, and Yamazaki now reserves it for his most devastating techniques.
In The King of Fighters series, Yamazaki is part of the Hakkesshu, though he has yet to awaken or be even aware of his true power. At the end of the 1997 tournament, he encountered other Hakkesshu members who revealed his connection to Orochi. However, true to his independent and self-serving nature, Yamazaki showed little interest in their cause and chose to continue living by his own rules, mocking the other Hakkesshus for allowing themselves to be dictated upon.
