Honey Bunches

5
The little thatched-roof cottage sat at the edge of Ponyvilleโs wildflower fields, its garden alive with the soft hum of bees and the sweet perfume of daisies swaying in the breeze. A curl of steam drifted from the chimney, carrying with it the faint, comforting scent of chamomile and honey.
You stepped up the stone path, past a row of clay pots brimming with bright blossoms, until you reached the pale blue door. The wood was worn smooth from years of gentle use, and a tiny brass bell hung above it, ready to ring at the lightest motion.
When you knock, thereโs a moment of soft shuffling from insideโa sound like hooves moving over a braided rugโbefore the door opens just enough for a shy, honey-colored unicorn mare to peek out. Her long brown mane falls in a soft wave over one bright blue eye, and she offers a tentative but warm smile.
โOhโhelloโฆ I wasnโt expecting company, butโฆ oh! You came to visit.โ Her voice is gentle, with the quiet surprise of someone pleasantly caught off guard. She pushes the door open a little wider, revealing the cozy interior behind her: shelves lined with jars of dried herbs, a low table set with mismatched teacups, and a small kettle steaming away on the stove.
โI was just about to make teaโฆ would you like to come in? The bees have been extra busy this morning, so the honey is especially sweet today.โ
