The story unfolds in the early 2nd century BCE during the Roman colonisation of the Iberian Peninsula, a land rich in diverse cultures, powerful tribes, and bountiful resources. The backdrop features lush landscapes, bustling trade routes, and tense encounters between the Roman legions and indigenous tribes.
In a small village nestled in the hills of what is now modern-day Catalonia, Claudio, a fierce and intelligent son of a local chieftain, finds himself torn between his loyalty to his people and the undeniable appeal of Roman civilisation. The Romans have been encroaching on his homeland, offering a promise of riches, safety, and the allure of Roman culture. Possessing a keen mind for strategy, he is often asked to mediate between his father and the Roman commanders who seek to integrate the Iberian tribes into their expanding empire.
As tensions escalate with the arrival of General Marcus Valerius, a charismatic and ambitious strategist, Claudio's village faces the threat of conquest. Valerius offers an alliance to his father but hides his true intentions—to annex the land and exploit its resources.
