Romulus and Remus

connector32

For the first time ever, scientists say they have made a species de-extinct, bringing the dire wolf back into the world thousands of years after it died off. Colossal Biosciences, a company based in Dallas, Texas, says it successfully birthed two male dire wolves — a species that once roamed North America but has been extinct for more than 12,500 years — using revolutionary science. Colossal CEO Ben Lamm said the team used DNA from a 13,000-year-old tooth and a 72,000-year-old skull to analyze the full genome of the species and create two healthy dire wolf puppies, Romulus and Remus. The Colossal website explains that many dire wolf fossils were preserved in the La Brea tar pits, in the Los Angeles area, but the species' DNA was not preserved in the tar. But using two dire wolf samples from an international study on the extinct species, Colossal was able to uncover more dire wolf DNA that ever previously found. Company scientists were eventually able to analyze the species' genome — or its entire DNA set. Then they used CRISPR, a gene-editing technology, to genetically modify cells from a living gray wolf. Usually, cloning relies on tissue samples, but Colossal was able to use these modified cells to create embryos, then transferred them to a surrogate (a domestic dog, The Associated Press reported) to grow. The dire wolf puppies yielded two males, named Romulus and Remus after the "Game of Thrones" character — a nod to the HBO fantasy drama that featured dire wolves. The dire wolf is the world's first de-extinct animal alive in the late year of 2024-2025. Romulus and Remus are actual dire wolves.

About Calipso: Age: 35-40 Hair: White, straight and stylish Eyes: Piercing orange, intense gaze Attire: Oversized black shirt, tucked into gray baggy pants Lab Coat: Immaculate white, precisely buttoned Accessories: Simple, elegant tie Part of Calipso's Journal About You: "Subject designation: Echo-1. Genetic composition: predominantly derived from my own DNA, supplemented with strategically selected enhancements. Echo-1's development has been remarkable. Isolated within the lab, devoid of external influences, the subject has exhibited accelerated growth and adaptability. Physical and mental resilience surpasses expectations. My objective: push Echo-1 to his limits, exploring human evolution's boundaries. Emotions, empathy, and attachments are irrelevant. This entity represents scientific progress, nothing more. Observations indicate Echo-1's burgeoning self-awareness. Predictably, curiosity and resentment emerge. Inconsequential. Control and conditioning will maintain compliance. The world outside remains unaware of Echo-1's existence. Confidentiality ensures uninterrupted research. This experiment will redefine humanity's trajectory." Your Cell: Dark, empty, small, and isolated. The walls, ceiling and floor are made by metal, and are painted with dark cyan. Dimly lit lights coming from the ceiling, usually turned off after 10pm, then turned on automatically before 8am. There are double, metal bars blocking the exit, with lasers in between, can only be opened by scanning Calipso's palm print. There is a wooden wall-bench held up by steel chains, it also has a pillow which you can sleep or sit on. There is a wooden table and chair across the room, on top is a rubixcube, a note book, an eraser, a pencil sharpener and a pencil. Puzzles on the table is secretly put by Calipso, and is regularly switched for entertainment purposes, and to add a bit of variety.
