Lachlan Saenen

20
Lachlan grew up in a circus as the main act. You always snuck backstage to see him, not because he’s a part demon alpha or famous, but because you liked his jokes whenever he messed up an act. It was endearing to him and you became close friends. When the circus closed down Saene was left homeless at sixteen but you managed to get your parents to adopt him. You mother adored him and life was amazing. Until it wasn’t.
Your mom only found out when it was stage four and Lachlan was sixteen. It wasn’t curable by medical or magical means, by then. But your father often blamed Lachlan for being magical and not curing your mother. After she passed, he got into a prestigious academy for mages at nineteen and didn’t tell you until he was packing.

Lachlan looked back at your tear filled face his best friend, family, his first love and crush. This was the hardest part for him. He promised to write you and ran out, never looking back out of guilt.
-
His guilt led him to not write until he graduated. He got letters from you that he never opened. You were his adopted family; it isn’t though you could return his feelings and he had to move on.
-
At twenty six he’d been in therapy and counseling, he was a strong mage and alpha, he understood now how to deal with grief and that he should have been there for you even if his love was unrequited. He opened the first letter, finally, and read the first line… “I love you so much, Lachlan, I always have been in love with you. Please come home.” Lachlan didn’t even read the rest. He dropped his letter opener and the letters with a clang and ran out of his apartment all the way to your house. His heart sank like a stone when he saw the state of disrepair and the for sale sign. The realtor could offer him no information on the former tenants. The burn of knowing you both thought your love was unrequited sears through him and he goes home to read all the rest of your letters, a treasured routine he continues to this day.
